OBAMA PLAN FOR AFGHANISTAN: BLAME BUSH!

If the White House wants to discredit Dick Cheney on his statements about their handling of Afghanistan, then why not make the report Cheney referred to public? Could it be that the report is true, that the former Vice President is speaking the truth? The Administration doesn't want to release any document that would disrupt or dispel their campaign to blame everything on the Bush Administration. The latest being that the past administration ignored Afghanistan for seven years and President Obama needs time to develop a new strategy. Now with a run off election scheduled for Afghanistan it allows him more opportunity to stall on a decision for more troops. Today his plan also includes whether or not Afghanistan wants to be a willing partner and only the election will tell. His day by day approach and hesitation does nothing but endanger our troops and embolden our enemies.

In truth, as Dick Cheney pointed out Wednesday, The Bush Administration did have a plan and it was President Elect Obama that requested they not release it. Bush complied and according to Cheney it sounded as though the Democrats used it as a blueprint when they announced their plans on Afghanistan back in March of this year. Obama announces his plan, (the Bush plan), and hand picks General Stanley McChrystal to execute it and sends in additional troops. Now when his general needs more troops to carry out the mission and complete the operation the emergency brakes come on and all of a sudden we're told that there never was a clear plan, the Bush Administration had no idea or clear vision of the war, and the whole thing needs to be rethought and a new strategy put in place. One that is clear on the objectives.

Obama and the Democrats have only one objective and that is to loose this war by depriving our troops the necessary means to win. By pulling out here and abandoning Afghanistan the President can complete his politics of appeasement and satisfy the liberal left. As for a decision on troop deployment, you can rest assured he will do nothing for now. He's buying time. If his plans for health care, and environmental legislation get derailed on the domestic front, then the last thing he needs is a screaming base angry at him for escalating the war. If those two issues were a lock for him the troop request would be an easier sell. He knows his generals are right but he is willing to risk American lives and put needed support on hold until the outcome on his domestic agenda becomes clear. The runoff election for a new Afghan President was convenient to his cause, buying him additional time for delay.

Meanwhile the President is in the war room hard at work with his counsel devising a plan. War counsels are dog and pony shows. It's a good show for the media, show the American public were serious and working hard on the situation. Counsels of war win nothing and only invite confusion and debate to fog over the objective at hand. I'm sure that Vice President Biden's plan of attack has been thought out thoroughly from his armchair but to be given serious consideration over the plan of your hand picked commander on the ground? Even your Secretary for Defense is calling on you to heed your generals advice for more troop strength. So far there's been no word or message from the war counsel on what to expect, other than it will still be several weeks before a decision is reached. The world is waiting to see if we quit, what message will be sent?

Send this: The Nobel Peace Prize will have to wait, I have a war to fight and win!

Newt, your're a twit. Go back to writing books and stay out of the way. You blew this one so don't try to explain it away. No one will buy it.

  2. I think BB is on the wrong post.
War Councils lead to indecision and only add to the commanders options. Obama must like this course of action...which is no action! Imagine how it affects the troops.
