OK, we all know that Chris Matthews has a super crush on President Obama. The emperor is fiddling while Rome burns and Chris just continues with his mindless, orgasmic, commentary of praise. If it's not running down his leg, it's running out his mouth! It is truly comical and at the same time pathetic. Taking a cue from Senator Reid, Chris commented after the State Of The Union Address that he forgot Obama was black...for an hour. I guess when the speech was over and the drugs wore off, he snapped back into reality and remembered that Obama was of African American decent.
In case you missed it, here's Chris in his own words:
"I was trying to think about who he was tonight. It's interesting: he is post-racial, by all appearances. I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country, and past so much history, in just a year or two. I mean, it's something we don't even think about. I was watching, I said, wait a minute, he's an African American guy in front of a bunch of other white people. And here he is president of the United States and we've completely forgotten that tonight -- completely forgotten it. I think it was in the scope of his discussion. It was so broad-ranging, so in tune with so many problems, of aspects, and aspects of American life that you don't think in terms of the old tribalism, the old ethnicity. It was astounding in that regard. A very subtle fact. It's so hard to talk about. Maybe I shouldn't talk about it, but I am. I thought it was profound that way."
Al Gore has just announced his new "A" TEAM to combat climate change and spread the word on Global Warming.
Gore said that the addition of Osama and Danny will strengthen the message they are trying to get out to the world and give a real boost to the credibility problem they've suffered lately. Glover was heard saying that he was really glad to be on board with "The Caveman" and Al. He knows their presence on the world political scene will surely make a difference.
Notable quotes from the press release:
Gore: "To those who are still tempted to dismiss the increasingly urgent alarms from scientists around the world, ignore the melting of the polar ice cap and all the other apocalyptic warnings from the planet itself, please wake up."
Osama bin Laden: "The effects of global warming have touched every continent. Drought and deserts are spreading, while from the other floods and hurricanes unseen before the previous decades have now become frequent."
Glover: "I hope we seize this particular moment because the threat of what happened to Haiti is the threat that could happen anywhere in the Caribbean to these island nations, you know. They're all in peril because of global warming, they're all in peril because of climate change. When we look back at what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I'm saying? But we have to act now."
Only Gore and Glover were available to the press, Osama sent his regrets saying he was sorry he could not be there for the announcement but he was moving locations this weekend. Something about "damn drones".
There is a disturbing trend developing with President Obama that not only relates to Democrats but to everyone and everything in the country. There is no other way to explain it other than the "Obama Jinx". In the recent past every time the President has thrown his support to someone or something disaster strikes and more often than not failure and defeat follow.
As proof you can look at the failed Democratic elections in New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts. In each case Obama lends his support and they lose. One may also look at what happened when he tried to bring the Olympics to Chicago, another crash and burn moment. Similar results seem to be headed his way on the health care and energy bills.
Need more proof? On Tuesday of this week, President Obama made a personal call to the University Of Kentucky basketball team. They had just taken over the number one ranking in NCAA men's basketball and he was calling to thank them for their Haiti Relief Telethon that raised over a million dollars and to throw his support their way for continued success in an undefeated season. The result? Kentucky went out and played an unranked University Of South Carolina team and lost! Bye-bye undefeated season and number one ranking. Thank you President Obama!
I know there are people out there that still remember Al Capp and his popular comic "Li'l Abner" that featured Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae as the main characters. Among all the characters in that comic strip, there
is one that stands out above others as it relates to Obama. That character is Joe Btfsplk, the world's most loving friend and worst jinx who always travels with a dark cloud over his head. No matter how good Joe's intentions were toward those he encountered, misfortune would soon follow.
I rest my case. President Obama is the new Joe Btfsplk and unfortunately for America he is the President.
As in the comic strip, those who knew of Joe would take off running when he would approach. That might be sound advice for the rest of us to follow.
By scolding the Supreme Court Justices in his State Of The Union Address Wednesday night, President Obama set the new political tone in Washington as well as the country for bi-partisanship. A new year of working together. What better way of doing that than attacking the court for upholding the First Amendment and the right of American Corporations to air their political views over our media network during elections.
What is their big concern? It seems they fear that since many corporations now are tied to foreign corporate interests, foreign influence may work its way into the election process. Millions of dollars from outside the U.S. could be dumped into state and national campaigns to elect...REPUBLICANS! Forget the fact that free speech in America should equally apply to the business sector. I can't find anywhere, except in the mind of liberals, that by owning a business or a corporation you give up your right to freedom of expression, especially on matters that may concern the well being of that business. The ruling simply rights a wrong and states the same. Traditionally corporate America gives more to Republicans than to Democrats, therefore if it's good for Republicans, Democrats, especially Liberal Democrats like Obama, hate it.
Since when has Obama hated anything foreign? By openly scolding the court in his address, Obama has publicly placed himself above those who are charged with upholding the Constitution and law of the land. He openly called for legislation to close what he considers a "loophole" in the law. In many ways this seems to be another one of his miscommunications to the American people. After all this is the man who openly embraces any foreign country or power. You would think he would be apologizing for not letting them participate in our elections earlier. This is the man who champions the cause of letting illegals register to vote and lets not forget that he was very quick to extend the full rights under our system of law to foreign terrorists. As he tries to move the country toward a European Socialist style of government, he now believes foreign influence on our politics threatens our political well being?
This President needs to remember what he has said in the past before he starts speaking in the present. Every time he tries to score points with his liberal base the rest of his message is lost on America. However his message to the Supreme Court was clear and judging by Justice Samuel Alito's response to the accusation it was heard loud and clear. That's something Obama may want to remember. With a 5-4 majority leaning conservative, I don't think Obama will be seen as a "Friend Of The Court".
NEXT ON THE OUTLOOK: President Obama: "Making Friends And Influencing People"
You have to hand it to Democrats, they're a hard headed bunch. They run smack into a wall, back up and head right into it again believing that sooner or later the wall will fall. So it is with health care and even though the results of the Massachusetts senate race have made that wall stronger, here they come, plowing head first into the wall of resistance put up by the American people. Reconciliation is the term now floating through the halls of Congress. It's a process that quickly moves legislation into law and is explained in the following:
Reconciliation is a fast-track legislative process that allows a bill to pass the Senate in a limited time period, and with the support of only 51 Senators. A “normal” Senate bill can be slowed down by a single Senator, and blocked by 41 Senators. This is not true for a reconciliation bill.
The downside is that reconciliation “protections” apply only to a very narrow set of policy matters, all relating to changes in taxes, spending, or debt.
In the particular case of health care reform, some Senate Democrats are attracted to the reconciliation process because it would allow them to pass a bill even if there is unified Republican opposition, and even if as many as 9 Senate Democrats oppose the bill. It is, however, nowhere nearly as easy as these advocates might hope. They may be able to enact some parts of health care reform but not others.
Instead of going back and trying to work with the Republicans to come up with a sensible plan that holds down costs and creates affordable care to Americans, they will try to salvage something from the two versions produced in the House and Senate. Possibly push through individual sections and ideas from each bill. As with everything they do, this to is flawed and will result in more harm than good for the country.
Unable to admit to defeat and unwilling to hear the voices of discontent, they assume their message was misunderstood. All that is needed is a little re-branding and repackaging to fix the problem. Of course when you won't admit to what the problem really is, the fixing part can get complicated.
This really has become a personal issue with them. If they go back to the drawing board then that means they were defeated and for all purposes they failed. Failure with a majority in Congress and a Democrat sitting in the Oval Office is not to be swallowed nor is it an option. However, by passing something...anything, then they at least can claim a victory of sorts. Like I said, it's personal now and to hell with what the country may want. It's all about saving face. The reality is government at its worst and how misguided ideals are forced into law and rammed down the throats of the American public. Unable to break through the wall of public resistance, they look for a way around it. As for the American public? Sorry, this is personal.
President Obama and the Democrats are like scrambled eggs right now after the results of the Senate race in Massachusetts. All across the liberal universe, television, radio, blogs, print, you name it the message is all garbled in transmission. The election loss is blamed on everything from George Bush to Martha Coakley being a pathetic candidate and somewhere out there, (and I have not found it yet but I know it's there), Global Warming! Folks this is reality TV at its best. For drama and comedy you can't beat it. It was a real hoot watching Chris Mathews on "Hardball" delve into the aspect that Massachusetts just doesn't elect women candidates no matter what party affiliation they are. Wednesday Nancy Pelosi was still moving on with Health Care. Thursday...well maybe not. The nuke option is on the table...Obama says no, wait until Scott Brown is seated. Woody, over at "Sanity Sentinel", nailed it when he said from now on President Obama will speak a little slower to us... so we will have time to understand what he's trying to sell. Remember, most Americans are not as smart as liberals. Obama admits he lost sight of that...just assumed we would understand. Well after one year in office it's pretty clear that Obama is the one who doesn't understand. Robert, at "Wise Conservatism" posted an article about the Obama "magic" wearing off on America and indeed it has. Realization that this man has serious challenges facing him that personality and magic alone cannot help. Unemployment and the economy have a way of wrecking ideology and can make the going rough for a "not ready for prime time player" of either party.
Democrats can spin it any way they want and it's to be expected but they see what a whipping their candidate took in the bluest of blue states. Political pundits are now saying Obama will take a lesson from Bill Clinton's playbook and turn his fortunes around in this second year. Well here's a news flash: Obama ain't no Clinton, not even close. His Chicago style politics won't fool anyone and the more Obama speaks the more hollow his words sound. As much as I disliked Clinton, Ole Slick Willy had a certain devious charm about him that hit a chord with the population and allowed him to stay popular. Not so with Obama. The chords he's hitting now are playing one and done!
According to an article by the AP, Muslim groups are pissed off about defense contractor Trijicon using Biblical reference codes in their serial numbers for their tactical gun sights they sell to the military.
Muslim groups reacted angrily Wednesday after it emerged that the U.S. military is using combat rifle sights inscribed with coded Biblical references.
Army officials have said they will investigate whether a Michigan defense contractor violated federal procurement rules by stamping references to Bible verses on the gun sights used by American forces to kill enemy fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations on Wednesday said the continued use of the sights with the religious references would send a negative message to the Muslim world.
"The use of military equipment with hidden Bible references sends the false message to Muslims worldwide that we are at war with Islam," said CAIR Legal Counsel Nadhira Al-Khalili. "In addition, these sights are a potential recruiting tool for anti-American forces, endanger our troops and alienate our Muslim allies. They should we withdrawn as soon as logistically possible."
First, I would like to say to Trijicon, great idea! For me it rates right up their with, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition." That phrase was the name of a popular patriotic song in 1942. The words were shouted by Chaplin, Howell Forgy to the men working the ammunition line on the USS New Orleans during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many ministers still use the phrase in Sunday sermons today. Trijicon is doing nothing wrong and has every right as a private firm to use whatever they want as serial numbers to catalog and identify their product. During times of war the word of God is never out of place. Verses from Biblical scripture have been printed on everything from helmets to bombs and many a GI had his own personal Bible.
These Muslim groups need to "stand down" in their objections. I seriously doubt they are concerned that these weapons sights are a potential recruiting tool for anti-American forces, endanger our troops and alienate our Muslim allies. Hell, our Muslim allies know we are a Christian nation and as far as endangering our troops...I happen to have a Trijicon accupoint sight mounted on my 306 Remington hunting rifle and if the military versions perform as well as that sight, then the only endangerment will be to the Muslim terrorist on the receiving end. As for use as a recruiting tool for Muslims? I would think the sights accuracy in the hands of a highly trained Marine rifleman would act as a deterrent.
These so called concerned Muslim groups would be doing us all a favor if they directed more of their outrage at their own brethren. Those who have perverted their religion, taken over their countries, and have declared war against western civilization, all in the name of Alla. Make no mistake, to these radical Muslims we are the infidels. They are out to destroy our society as well as our religion.
According to Trijicon, when asked to respond: The codes were used as "part of our faith and our belief in service to our country," Trijicon said.
"As long as we have men and women in danger, we will continue to do everything we can to provide them with both state-of-the-art technology and the never-ending support and prayers of a grateful nation," a company spokesman said on condition of anonymity.
"We don't publicize this," Munson said in a recent interview. "It's not something we make a big deal out of. But when asked, we say, 'Yes, it's there.'"
The inscriptions are subtle and appear in raised lettering at the end of the stock number. Trijicon's rifle sights use tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen, to create light and help shooters hit what they're aiming for.
Markings on the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight, which is standard issue to U.S. special operations forces, include "JN8:12," a reference to John 8:12: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life,'" according to the King James version of the Bible.
There is no clever conspiracy or marketing ploy here and I choose to believe the company is sincere in their answer but you can be sure this will be making it's way to the ACLU before it's all over. How dare you invoke the word of the Lord on your weapons! My answer is simple..."Onward Christian Soldier."
"YA GOT TROUBLE...RIGHT HERE IN CAPITOL CITY...AND THAT STARTS WITH T AND THAT RHYMES WITH B AND THAT SPELLS OUT BROWN!" (From the song "Ya got trouble" Meredith Wilson's "Music Man")
This scene from the movie reminded me of Obama and Democrats in panic mode after Scott Brown's win in the Massachusetts senate race.
President Obama is perfect for the part of con man, Professor Harold Hill, trying to sell his brand of politics for America in "Capitol City". Scott Brown spells trouble for them.
Since when has the health care issue turned into a matter of decency? President Obama and Congressional Democrats have turned it into nothing more than an indecent proposal, but there was the President on Sunday, speaking before the congregation at the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church during a service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As he stood at the pulpit he preached that a victory for health care would be a victory for decency!
Has the President lost his mind or is he just oblivious to the mood of the nation? Perhaps he is so caught up in passing something with Health Care stamped across the page, it doesn't matter what is in it or how it reads. They threw out any dignity or decency to this issue long before arriving at this point of the process.
What is decent about still leaving 25 million uninsured? What is decent about raising the taxes on the middle-class? How can he keep a straight face and speak of decency and dignity when earlier in the week he completes a sweetheart deal with unions to exempt them from a Cadillac Tax on their policies? Even worse, how decent is it that he chooses to negotiate the final wording of the bill behind closed doors? When you add in all the late night deals, bribes and payoffs added by the Democrats, the only word that comes to mind is disgusting. Transparency? The only transparency on this legislation is that America doesn't like it, the public can smell a dirty deal. Even now, on the eve of the Massachusetts election to fill the late Senator Ted Kennedy's seat, Democrats are plotting to ram the bill through in case Republican Scott Brown wins. They would ignore the State of Massachusetts voters just as they are ignoring the entire country and arrogantly do so in the name of decency.
The state of the union will be outrage, if not revolt, against this President and all the Democrats in Congress. The State Of The Union Address might as well be made behind closed doors. It would truly be an act of indecency for the man to go before the nation touting the success of a strictly partisan plan, flawed to the core, constitutionally unsound and loaded with special exemptions and favors to a select few, then try to sell it as decent legislation. This bill won't stand on its merits alone, it stinks, they know it, but having some sort of health plan, no matter how bad, is more important to them than actually doing what they set out to do, which was to ensure that every American had access to quality, affordable, health care. All they have managed to do is create another bloated entitlement program paid for by cutting Medicare benefits to seniors and imposing taxes on the population. Instead of bringing dignity and decency to their quest for health care reform, they have disgraced themselves and the offices they hold, lied, cheated, bribed and resorted to every underhanded political tactic one could imagine. The American people will not walk away quietly from this. They are well acquainted with the terms dignity and decency and right now they don't see it coming from the White House.
If this Massachusetts race goes down to the wire then look for the Democrats to steal the election away from Republican Scott Brown by tying the results up in recounts and court battles all designed to delay seating anyone from the state until after the vote on health care. Make no mistake...this is now a national election with grave consequences for the liberal left if they lose.
Once thought to be a shoo in, Martha Coakley now finds herself down four points in polling heading into Tuesdays vote. Desperation has set in as evidence of Obama's trip there this coming Sunday. Their personal attack ads in the media have increased against Brown and be prepared for them to drop a "bombshell" this weekend. Spreading false and malicious rumors has always been their fond tactic in desperate situations.
The voters of Massachusetts need to elect Scott Brown by at least 10 percentage points to erase any doubt who the winner is. If not, the Democrats steal another election from the state and the nation.
All right, I saw the Glen Beck video clip where he asked Sarah Palin who her favorite Founding Father was. The question did give her pause and when she started to say, “they all were ...collectively”, he said “bull crap, who's your favorite” and then he let her go on with her answer. I admit, it's not the answer I would have liked to hear from her, but she did answer the question, qualified her answer by explaining her reasoning, “they all had to come together collectively as one body and so she admired them all”... and her favorite was George Washington. There is no disputing anything she said and her favorite may not be the same as another's, so why did the folks at MSNBC “Morning Joe” try to make Sarah Palin out to be an idiot?
In their attempt to once again to portray Palin as a dopey, uninformed female, Mika Brzezinski shows the entire viewing audience what a moron really is. After they rolled the clip, Joe Scarborough, Brzezinski, and Pat Buchanan began to comment. “Wow, uuh...ummm… Wow, I just need to, let me just process, okay,” Brzezinski remarked. As if she wasn't quite sure if Washington was a Founding Father. Then Scarborough asked Buchanan on his thoughts and he responded “well she did say George Washington and he was the father of our country” Later Buchanan said, “I would’ve gone with Hamilton, myself, Joe.” Shortly thereafter Brzezinski blurted out from off-camera, “Me, Linc...Lincoln, but okay.” All the time they are laughing and giggling like a group of high school kids in the cafeteria. You remember them, the elitists clicks that thumbed their nose at everyone who wasn't part of their group. We all new they were idiots then and their still idiots today and now they work in television.
Mika were you asleep during history class? Lincoln didn't take office as President until March,1861. All the Founding Fathers were dead and buried and dammed if 'Ole Abe' didn't come close to destroying all they built. Joe Scarborough must also be historically challenged because he didn't bat an eye after she said it. They just continued to laugh and giggle like they exposed another “gotcha” moment on Palin. Meanwhile the executives over at MSNBC are still trying to figure out why their ever shrinking ratings keep going south. Go figure.
Edisto Joe
NOTE: My reference to 'Ole Abe' nearly destroying it all is in reference to his poor choice of generals during the first years of the Civil War. I am fully aware that by his sheer will to continue the conflict he is credited with saving the Union.
The recent incident where an aide to Martha Coakley was caught on tape shoving a reporter from "The Weekly Standard" as he tried to ask her questions is exactly why the race for the Massachusetts Senate seat, left vacant from the death of Ted Kennedy, has become a hotly contested race with Scott Brown, the Republican, in a virtual tie with Coakley, the Democrat. Recent polling shows a virtual tie.
What viewers across the country were treated to was another glaring example of how Liberal Democrats are willing to shove aside the voice of opposition and move ahead with their agenda, no matter how unpopular it is with the citizens of this country. Shoving that reporter is representative of everything the Democrats have done since they acquired power. Just recall the town halls and the tea party rallies that were arrogantly dismissed by these people, shoved aside while they pressed forward with their plans. They've intentionally ignored calls for less spending, controlling our rising debt, and ending government bailouts. Instead of addressing the issues of the people publicly they insult them and then lock themselves behind doors to conduct the peoples business in private, assuming they know what's best for the country.
They shoved aside any sense of bi-partisanship with health care and then shoved aside calls for transparency by shutting out CSPAN to closed door meetings. The race in Massachusetts has become a glaring example of how desperate they are to shove a disastrous health care bill down the throats of a country that overwhelmingly rejects what they propose. The race in Massachusetts should not even be close, but it is, and yet the Democrats still press on. Even if Scott Brown wins the race, and I hope he does, they are working on ways to keep him from taking his seat until after the vote on health care is a done deal. Never have I seen a political party so obsessed with passing bad legislation that they would ignore the truth before their very eyes. There is a reason the Coakley/Brown race is so close, a reason a Democratic strong-hold would vote Republican but the Democrats shove it aside. Even if they achieve a victory the message is already sent and it doesn't read well for any of them in 2010.
Edisto Joe
Update: 01/15/2010
A Suffolk University/7News poll released today shows Brown leading Coakley by 4 percentage points. Brown had 50 percent, Coakley had 46 percent and independent candidate Joseph Kennedy, who is not related to the late senator, had 3 percent.
Update: 01/15/2010
Former President Bill Clinton and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., are headlining a rally for Coakley Friday afternoon in Boston. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is campaigning with Brown in Boston Friday.
Fox News has once again shown why they continue to blow away the competition when it comes to the ratings game. By bringing Sarah Palin on board as a political commentator they have just guaranteed that all the closet liberal Fox viewers will be tuning in for some time to come and new viewers will be drawn to the woman they love to hate. They won't be able to help themselves! Even competing news stations will have to watch so they can comment on her comments. I predict she will become one of the most watched, most scrutinized, most reviled, hated, and loved political commentators on network television...and yes, to all the liberal, atheist, Conservative ,Christian hating masses, it very well could be Gods plan for Sarah.
It's simply astounding that those who continually try to discredit her are the ones who do the most to keep her in the forefront of the political arena today. They have without a doubt played an important part in making her the top and most successful political figure to emerge from 2009. Politics is all about staying relevant and she has certainly done that. A number one best selling book, a successful book tour, speaking engagements and now, a nice contract with Fox. Not bad, for someone the liberal left wrote off back in July of 2009 when she resigned as Governor of Alaska and who they believed committed political suicide.
At a time when the current administration of President Obama is moving this country into their Socialist vision for America, there can be no stronger Conservative, Christian voice to sound off in opposition and appeal for a return to Reagan conservative values. Last night she appeared on “The Factor” with Bill O'Riley and on Wednesday, she will be on with Glen Beck. The liberal left blogs will be howling as they go on the defensive and competing news stations will most certainly have their pundits offering snide remarks and baseless commentary. All which will add to the basic human desire to be curious, sending viewers and readers to Fox. There's a reason their number one!
As for Sarah? What better way to stay in the news than to join a news channel. This will be a win/win for both parties and a real pain in the ass for liberals in 2010.
I never was a fan of Senator Ted Kennedy simply because I have never bought into the liberal side of politics and his particular brand always rubbed me the wrong way. But I do admit, he was always passionate to his cause and one of those was health care.
The late Senator Ted Kennedy had made it a personal crusade while serving in the Senate to try and bring about a system of Universal Health Care for all Americans. A plan similar to what they enjoyed in Congress, a plan that covered everyone and turned away no one. A universal government run system which he saw as a basic human right for this country. Many would say it was his dying wish and Democrats have invoked his memory into the debate on many occasions as well as seeing to the matter of keeping his vote alive in Congress.
He is not going to get his wish. The Democrats may force a health care bill down the throats of the American people but it will be nothing like Kennedy imagined, mainly there is no public option, it will increase premium payments by the middle class, and when it is all said and done there will still be around 25 million people who are uninsured. President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid should be ashamed of themselves for disgracing the memory of one of their iconic, liberal giants by pushing this huge catastrophic piece of legislation through Congress. This is nowhere near what Kennedy wanted and poor "Teddy" is most assuredly turning in his grave over this bastardized bill.
During the course of this sad episode of politics, the Democrats have blatantly ignored public opinion, tried to silence opposition, thrown their own promise of transparency out the door and bought and bribed their way into passing two versions in both houses of congress. Now in the final stages of reconciling both bills into one, they refuse to let the American public in on their "transparent", nothing to hide process. Why? Because they know if America saw what they were up to, they would be even more outraged than they already are.
Universal Health Care has now become one huge and very expensive joke for the taxpayers and it's not funny. This administration has embarked on a face saving plan of action without regard for public opinion and the consequences of their action. In short, it's irresponsible government operating at the worst levels. Democrats have bought, bribed, and threatened their own to produce a health care bill that does nothing to improve the quality of care, still leaves millions uninsured, cuts medicare for seniors, and tramples on the name and vision of their once great leader, Senator Ted Kennedy. Rest in peace Ted, your legacy is in Obama's hands.
Appearances mean everything. That's true in our daily lives and even more so in the daily lives of government officials. Those that were presented to the public by President Obama and his administration right after the failed Christmas attack by the "underwear" terrorist bomber left much to be desired. They left the very clear impression that this administration places a high priority on vacation time.
This week John Brennan, President Obama's top counter terrorism adviser, was asked if he believes Michael Leiter, director of the National Counter terrorism Center, should be asked to resign his position. Leiter as you may recall from news accounts, was on a skiing vacation at the time of the attack. Instead of returning to his post he chose to continue on vacation. Brennan stated that he had been in touch with Leiter and they discussed whether he should return or not. According to Brennan, Leiter told him his top aids were in place and on the job. Brennan then told him there was no need to return, enjoy your vacation. You deserve it you've worked hard for it.
I find it hard to believe that the director of the National Counter terrorism Center would call and ask advice on whether he should return to his job or not. What's more amazing is that Brennan would go on network news and admit to it. It probably went something like this. "Hello John, this is Michael,...yea the skiing's great! Listen John, about this attempted airplane bombing, is this serious? Am I going to have to scrap the rest of my vacation? Oh...Janet Napolitano has it under control...she says the system is working? Great! Well call if you need me, I'm off to the slopes. Later dude!"
So should he be released because he didn't return? Well that would be hard to justify since his boss, President Obama, was also on vacation and saw no urgent need to address the American public until three days after the incident and then only after Napolitano's comments referring to "no known connections" and "the system is working." set off a PR nightmare which led to calling a security summit at the White House so all parties could get their stories straight. It seems Robert Gibbs was running out of answers at the press meetings and the sharks were smelling blood.
You'll have to excuse my sarcasm but this White House summit on national security is one big cover my ass damage control exercise meant to bolster the image of Obama and his cabinet at a time when their ineptness on fighting terrorism and "connecting dots" could never be clearer to the American public. In his public address all the predictable things were said, "the buck stops here" and so forth. He did manage to finally say we are at war...with al Qaeda, still not willing to say war on terrorism. I guess all the foreign states that harbor al Qaeda and supporting terrorist networks don't count as enemies. What he did not say is that he would reverse some of his lame brained policies, such as closing Gitmo, and treating terrorists like common criminals, affording them all the rights and protections our system of law provides. Until he does that all the chest thumping speeches in the world won't convince the public or the world he isn't weak, very weak when it comes to national security and combating terrorism. Sure, he announced the increase in troops for Afghanistan but in the same sentence he announced we're pulling out almost as soon as we get there. Ever since he has taken office his priority has been pushing an unpopular social agenda over the war and keeping America safe. Now he's paying the price for that neglect and unfortunately so is the country.
One only has to look at the recent security breeches at White House functions to begin to get a picture of how this administration approaches security issues. Terrorists don't take vacations and constant vigilance and cooperation between security departments is a priority. President Obama has a long way to go to restore the confidence of the American people that he can keep America secure.
As the President and Democratic Congressional leaders lock themselves away in secret discussions on the increasingly unpopular health care legislation, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank are preparing to ram another piece of bad legislation down the throats of the American public.
This month they plan to unveil their plan for Universal Voter Registration, a government mandated law requiring all states to register their residents to vote. This will not be an option. Chuck and Barney want to make it law that everyone in the country be put on the rolls to vote and naturally they want them to vote Democratic. Their proposal would require states to use their lists for unemployment, welfare, drivers license, property owners, social security, and whatever else is on record to compile a list of names. These names would then be entered into the voter registration rolls regardless of whether a person wants their name on it or not.
Just imagine the problems with such an outlandish law. Infringement on States Rights and Constitutional issues aside, the logistics of putting together such a system would be a nightmare not to mention opening the door to massive voter fraud, which by the way, Democrats seem to always be involved in. Many states issue drivers licenses to illegals, allow them to collect unemployment and welfare. There are countless people who own property and homes in more than one state. Thousands of people are on separate federal and state lists for services, making duplication almost impossible to stop. Cross checking will be non-existent. By the time all is said and done, you will have people registered to vote in multiple sites around the country as well as the possibility of voting several times in their home state. One can only guess at the number of illegals stuffing ballots into election boxes around the country, all for the good old party of entitlements.
This is nothing more than a Democratic voter registration scam paid for by the taxpayer. Government sponsored ACORNISM, signed, sealed, and delivered by the Congressional Democrats and the head acorn himself, sitting in the Oval Office. It's easy to see why they continue to press forward with unpopular programs in Congress. They figure by passing this law they can do what they want without fear of losing an election. Just one more step in their stairway to a socialist utopia.
The first thing President Obama should address at his White House security summit is that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan didn't give a damn about his apologetic overtures to the Muslim world and his efforts toward building a meaningful dialogue to address grievances in the extremist camps.
Someone please, throw a cold bucket of ice water on these guys attending the meeting and wake them up! Terrorists don't care about the President's personal persona, his speeches, his commitment to close Gitmo. They could care less about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed getting a civilian trial in New York, or that future extremists when caught will be given fair trials in the U.S.courts of law. They only want one thing...death to infidels and that pretty much includes everyone on this earth except them. They are at war and America is their number one target. After a year in office Obama has proved his critics right. He is weak beyond doubt on national security and the majority of Americans feel less secure when it comes to him being able to keep this country safe from terrorist attacks. His liberal approach to global terrorism has failed miserably and without major adjustments in attitude and thinking, without recognizing the problem for what it is, (a war), there will be more attempts at home and abroad.
The President maintains complete denial of any concept of a War On Terror, refusing to label terrorists for what they are. Obama referred to Abdulmutallab as an "isolated extremist" in his initial comment on the incident, the exact terminology used when referring to Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the terrorist in the Fort Hood shootings. Those statements alone show that those advising the President as well as the President himself don't have a clue to what their up against in this battle. The fact is, both were connected to al Qaeda and terrorist organizations. Interesting that both men had ties to the radical Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Its should be plain to Obama that this cleric doesn't think much of his apology either.
At the end of this security summit don't expect to see terrorists turned over to the military for interrogation, or Gitmo back in operation. All captured combatants will still be Mirandized and afforded lawyers to inform them of their rights and protect their interests. At the end of the day we will hear of the President being forceful in his demand that agencies charged with security start sharing information and work closely together, a few may be called on the carpet but strictly for show, something for Robert Gibbs to take back to the press. There may even be a new czarship created to oversee everything Homeland Security oversees. Just so we all know "the system worked exactly as planned." Right, and in the meantime, somewhere an "isolated extremist" is out there planning his next move. Apology not accepted.
